Zotrim was originally created in the 80′s (it wasn’t called Zotrim then) and after several improvements and lots of testing it was put on the weight loss market in the UK. Inventor Lasse Hessel and biochemist Trevor Jarman were the main forces behind tweaking and testing this product that is now marketed by Natures Remedies. Zotrim is known for its ability to suppress hunger and increase the metabolism. But what are some of the side effects from the three main ingredients Yerba Mate, Guarana, and Damiana?
Although the clinical studies performed on Zotrim revealed no verifiable side effects, the three prominent ingredients contained in this supplement have been known to cause some adverse reactions in users. It’s important to keep in mind that the adverse reactions experienced were usually involved with significantly higher doses than what is used in Zotrim, nevertheless, I think it’s important for those interested in Zotrim to know. Since everyone is different and herbal supplements have been known to conflict with certain medications, it’s important to seek the advice of a doctor or health professional before trying Zotrim.
Zotrim Dangers
Complications from caffeine can include headaches, nausea, aching stomach, insomnia, and it’s important to note that Zotrim does contain caffeine. People that don’t do well with a small cup of coffee or xanthines should take precaution. Zotrim is not intended for use by minors under the age of 16. In fact, it shouldn’t be used by people under the age of 18. The Zotrim website has claims that this supplement is safe for diabetics, however, further research shows that diabetics should stay away from yerba mate, guarana, and damiana due to the impact these supplements can have on glucose levels.
Risks for pregnant, expecting, or nursing moms using Guarana, Damiana, and yerba mate has not been determined in an of the clinical studies. But since Zotrim contains caffeine, and the latter ingredients are known stimulants, Zotrim should not be used for new moms or moms to be. Furthermore, individuals with problems with the following should not take Zotrim without physician supervision: high blood pressure, smokers, heart conditions, plant allergies, osteoporosis, heavy drinkers, and glaucoma.
Yerba Mate, Guarana, Damiana Side Effects
Yerba Mate has been linked to a few kinds of cancers including bladder and kidney cancer. Mixing these ingredients with other diet ingredients such as ephedra can significantly increase the chances of stroke and changes in blood pressure. Any other supplement containing a stimulant should not be combined with Zotrim. People that have combined Yerba Mate, Guarana, and Damiana have reported negative drug relations. Fore example, stimulants in these ingredients have been known to affect the way the following medications work: blood circulation medicine, anti-depressants, nicotine, antibiotics, and estrogen to name a few. As a side note, people are told to stop using damiana at least two weeks before surgery.
Don’t misinterpret this article. Zotrim is a solid option for losing weight especially with all of its clinical trials and testing. The point is, you shouldn’t put anything into your body without checking checked by a doctor first. At the end of the day, you have to know what’s best for your body.
