Weight loss is a process by which a person reduces the total body mass. Weight loss doesn’t go in conjunction with reduced body size as one can loose weight but still maintain the body size. This mostly happens when one is ill, stressed or is mentally disturbed which might lead to poor eating habits. Poor eating habit in turn leads to weight loss, as the body needs to be given the right type of food as well as in correct amount that can sustain it. Weight loss can be either intentional or unintentional depending on why one wants to shed that extra mass.
Unintentional weight loss – Unintentional weight loss can stem from the poor management of type 1 diabetes mellitus, otherwise known as insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM), which is often caused by an excess amount of glucose and an insufficient amount of insulin in the bloodstream. When this happens, the release of triglycerides from adipose (fat) tissue and catabolism (breakdown) of amino acids occurs in the muscle tissues as result, it leads to a loss of both fat and lean mass, leading to an overall reduction in the total body weight.
Once this occurs, the discharge of triglycerides from adipose (fat) tissue and catabolism (breakdown) of amino acids occurs in the tissues of the muscle as a result, it lead to loss of both fat and lean accumulation of weight, hence by and large decrease in the general body weight.
In most instances it occurs when an individual is in a state of negative energy balance, more so when the body is consuming more energy than it is gaining. This results in the body using up the stored reserves from fat or muscle and over time it leads reduction/loss of weight.
Weight loss programs – If there is need for a client to loose weight there should be well laid down procedures or steps to be followed to achieve this. To achieve great results, the following should be put into consideration;
Cut the calories- fewer calories should be taken in if the client doesn’t engage himself in doing exercises to ensure that one loses weight, the calories us. Fat intake should be reduced at all costs if one is determined to reduce weight. One should also eat less fries to avoid too much fat in the body
Weight exercise- taking up weight exercise is also a means of cutting the fat as bonus in the major muscle groups of the body thus burns extra calories in contrast to aerobic exercise when done always over a period of time.
Easy aerobic training- aerobic training too plays a major function although it can not be compared with the effect that weight exercises would cover, and on the other hand it performs a significant role.
Eating proteins and carbohydrates-it’s required that one takes in fewer fat calories, it become necessary for the individual to include more calories in his/her diet from protein and carbohydrates. This is because there is an increased demand for proteins and carbohydrates associated with physical activity.
