The overall weight of a proportion of Western countries citizens may be rising significantly but the pursuit of health and fitness products and programs seems to be following suit. It would be easy to blame one single thing but the truth is, despite the obesity pandemic the world is facing we are still an image conscious society. This can be seen with the investment that is going on in local fitness centers and health clubs, not to mention fitness equipment manufacturers.

Although to be honest, trying to avoid the subject is not easy with amount of advertising that goes on to promote diet fitness. But on the flip side of that coin is the importance of heating healthily and maintaining a weight to suit our size and shape. It is the food we eat in our diet and fitness program that will encourage a healthy body, as exercise will not restore damaged muscles or keep you healthy. What does not help the average person is what diet-fitness regime to follow as both seem to make sense; there is the one that says eat foods with high carbohydrate levels and the other which says you need to eat foods with a high fat content which appears to contradict everything we are told about dieting.

What makes this confusing for the amateur is that one side says that you are better of eating foods high in fat when you exercise and the others state you need to eat foods that are a good source of carbohydrates. High-carb diets are utilized with glycogen stored in the liver and muscles as glycogen is a glucose complex that provides large amounts of energy ready for use in anaerobic exercises.

The other camp believe that because fat is a higher source of calories an it metabolizes in a fraction of the time it takes carbohydrates, then these are the foodstuffs we should consume before exercise. However, whichever diet you use may depend on the type of activity you perform as well but the two diets are not to be mixed up unless you want to add extra pounds to your body mass.

The purpose of diet fitness is to change your diet and lose excess body weight in the form of fat, by regular physical activity. Studies show time and time again that to lose and keep the weight of, every diet must be tailored to individuals particular food tastes, their medical history and way they live their life.

The most successful diet fitness programs are tailored in such a way that the person does not even consider they are on a diet because they are able to eat in moderation. The important message here is experiment until you find the diet fitness method that suits you and then staying fit and healthy will be much easier and probably enjoyable..
