The body needs something to get its energy from. Energy is typically stored as fat in your body. If you want to lose weight, you have to use the glycemic index to burn that fat off as energy. A great many diets out there end up making you burn your muscles for energy. Just limit your intake of carbohydrates, and your body will start burning off the fat instead.

You can think of the extra weight you are carrying as untapped energy, and when your nutrition is based on glycemic index guidelines, the fat stores will begin to disappear as your body starts burning it up. However, you cannot just live on the fat you have stored and nothing else. However, with proper nutrition during your weight loss program, you will not only burn fat, but your level of energy may be increased for months.

There are a lot of associated benefits to have a high level of energy. You won’t start to drag around in the late afternoon. Those slumps are caused by an insulin response to spikes in blood sugar levels, which in turn causes your blood sugar to plummet. You will not be feeling the highs and lows associated with fluctuating blood sugar levels. Your energy levels will be a lot more consistent, instead of the highs and lows in energy that are experienced with fluctuating blood sugar levels, which can impair brain function. You will see a decrease in insulin resistance, and the cells in your body can better assimilate additional energy. If you have experienced those insulin lows before, when you feel like you have no energy, they will fade.

On most diets, you are told to cut your calories, and I’m sure you have noticed how famished you have felt, which leads to binging. There is nothing harder than staying on a diet that cuts your calories, for these reasons,on top of the times where you crave something that’s bad for you which can ruin a week’s worth of weight loss. You can steer clear of over-indulging and craving the foods that aren’t so good for you, by using the glycemic index weight-loss program. When you restrict yourself so severely, you are likely to overeat due to extreme hunger.

This problem is a function of the high-carbohydrate insulin-response mechanism. Foods that are high in carbohydrates are comfort foods, because they elevate your blood sugar quickly and make you feel good.

If your body is insulin hungry, you’re probably not going to grab a piece of fish or a salad to satisfy your cravings. We’ll just jump to the first carb heavy, sugary food we can find, like donuts and cookies, so that our body stays insulin hungry. Just get rid of the carb rich foods, and you will experience fewer cravings.
