How often do you tell yourself you better go on a diet on Monday? How many different diets have you been on only to make you miserable and not work?
When I was younger I went on every diet that every became available! I was always going for the quick fix, and guess what, none of them worked for the long term. All they did was make me very hungry, miserable and then wrecked my metabolism for later in life.
After doing that for years, the penny finally dropped and for the last 10 years I\’ve been off the roundabout and have maintained a lean healthy body. I can\’t tell you how fantastic it feels just to eat normal, healthy, wholesome food without worrying about it each day. I\’m less stressed, my skin and hair are better and I have more energy. And that\’s what I want for you. Having a fit, healthy lean body is achievable through moderation. I know this sounds boring because we are all hoping for a \’quick fix\’ but trust me it is not worth being \’skinny\’ if you are constantly grumpy from lack of food and exhausted from over-exercising and feeling like your life is controlled by food. How many of you start each day thinking – right I\’m going to be good today? Wouldn\’t it be a relief not to have to think about it for a change? So instead of saying \”I\’m not allowed, I\’m not allowed. How about changing that to \”I love my body and love eating great, healthy wholesome food, I love socialising and I believe in balance\”
So listed below are my guidelines for getting off the dieting roundabout!
. stop calling food \”bad foods\” or good foods Start selecting foods that are good for your body
. stop being good all week and bingeing on the weekend. Turn it around and focus on eating well on the weekend.
. stop starting a new diet every Monday. Go into new training program on the weekend. Hard to exercise with a hangover!
. Stop focusing on the \’bad\’ things you have eaten Start focusing on the good things you have done for your body eg: ate some great crunchy vegetables; did a weights session.
. stop a lifestyle of denial. Stop the extremes. Allow yourself to have treats but just dont eat the whole lot and go overboard. If you love chocolate dont deny yourself a square or two and really enjoy the moment.
. stop shutting yourself away from social functions because you are on a diet. Life is meant to be lived!
