With so many diet pills on the market today, with each one claiming to be the new #1 weight loss supplement, how can you possibly sort through all the garbage and choose a diet pill that will actually work for you? When I started reviewing diet pills on my website (Criticalorie.com) over a year ago, I asked myself that same question. Over time, however, I found that it is actually quite easy to discern between the junk and gems if you know what to look for. When choosing a diet pill, you should always take special note of the diet pill’s ingredients, the company behind the product, the price of the pills, and the money back guarantee.

What is the one and only factor that really determines if a diet pill will actually work for you? The ingredients. Once that diet pill enters your mouth, the ingredients are the only thing that sets one pill apart from another. And while this seems like an obvious statement, I’m continually amazed at how many consumers put more importance on how convincing the infomercial is or which celebrity is endorsing the product. If you want to know if I diet pill is effective, you must research the ingredients (and the amounts of those ingredients) that are actually in the diet pill. Avoid proprietary blends which hide the amounts of the ingredients included. When researching, look for clinical studies that have been peer-reviewed and published. Go directly to the source. If the source of they study isn’t cited, don’t believe it. Researching ingredients really isn’t that difficult, but if you want a good start, I’ve reviewed most of the common diet pill ingredients at Criticalorie.com to help you in your journey (and yes, I’ve cited all the research that I’ve used in my assessments).

The next area to research is the diet pill company itself. Good, reputable companies usually produce good products. And shady companies that are known to scam people usually produce worthless products. You’ll want to see if the company has had any trouble with FTC for making false claims, using banned substances, etc. You’ll also want to check complaint boards for people that report bad business practices (autoship programs come to mind). Watch out for outlandish claims and fabricated before and photos. There’s also always the little marketing tactics that they’ll employ such as posting celebrities photos or news station logos as if they had endorsed the product. If the company who sells the diet pill isn’t trustworthy, why would you put something that they manufactured into your body?

Another aspect that is worth noting is the price of the diet pill. If you spend near nothing for the product, you can probably expect near nothing in terms of results. On the other hand, however, don’t go buying the most expensive thing you can find either. A good diet pill will usually cost you anywhere from $40 to $70 per bottle. If you spend much more than this, chances are the diet pill company is making money hand over fist. As always, watch out for scams that seem too good to be true.

A quality diet pill will almost always have a good money back guarantee. A ?good’ guarantee is anything more than 60 days (I actually prefer to see 90 days to a lifetime guarantee). Anything less that this doesn’t give you enough time to effectively judge how effective the product is. The company bank on the fact that you probably won’t want to return the product until after the short guarantee is already up. With all the different diet pill on the market, it can be difficult to weed through them to find the ones that will actually be effective at helping you lose weight. But with these guidelines and a little time and research you should be able to narrow them down rather quickly.
