This is the time of year when we all think about what might be in the New Year. In the back of our minds are a few nagging thoughts about what we really need to do, but have been putting off for a long time. Are we going to grasp the nettle or are we going to carry on in the same old way?
New Year is a time when many of us take stock of where we are and what we need to do. What is the state of ‘Me Inc’? Have you invested wisely? Have you seen a good return on your investment? Have you neglected your investment? Is it in need of attention?
It’s a sad fact that too many of us run our lives on autopilot and we seldom take stock of our most important investment – ourselves. Instead of taking control of our lives and making things happen, we allow things to happen to us.
The start of a New Year is a very good opportunity to have a good, long, hard look at the state of your health and your wealth – bearing in mind that your wealth is your health! Me Inc can very easily suffer from neglect. When it does, it starts to perform badly. All too often it is the material things in our life that get more attention.
New Year is a period of opportunity. This is when you can put right all your errors and mistakes. This is when you can identify all your bad habits and do something about them. This is your opportunity to give ‘you’ a bit of proper attention. Do you need to lose weight, for example? If you do, then now is the time to do something about it.
What exactly are you going to do to lose weight? Wouldn’t it be great if you didn’t have to go through the same old weight loss battle in 2010? What if you could lose weight permanently? It can happen if you want it to. – all you have to do is to sign up for change.
Change is another word for learning. It’s not something that you should be worried about. We change all the time in our everyday lives, it’s what life is all about. There is no need to fear change, you need to embrace it.
Why don’t you use this New Year as an opportunity to change? Why don’t you start by ‘noticing’ more about ‘you’? Recognize what bad habits led you to become overweight and then identify new habit – slim habits – that will help you to change your behavior. This is the way to permanent weight loss. Your future can be healthy (and wealthy) if you want it to be. That’s a great thought for the New Year, isn’t it?
