Six pack abs are the total definition of being in shape and being healthy. When people see someone with a six pack they automatically know that person is serious about diet and fitness. That is because it takes complete dedication to get a six pack. Flat six pack abs do not come with exercise alone.
While you may increase your strength and fitness through spending hours in the gym, your abs may still remain hidden. This is because the foods you are eating are stored as fat around your abdomen. Fat is stored around your abs in a first-in, last out fashion. This means it is stored around your abs first and is the last to leave. Diet is the key to getting rid of stubborn belly fat.
The Right Fat Burning Diet
It makes sense that you need the right diet to lose weight. Start it with foods that you should not eat. These foods include low glycemic carbs, sugar, fatty foods and you should avoid alcohol.
Kick-start Your Diet Plan
It seems you could spend your life researching the best diet. Here are four quick start things you can do to improve your diet today.
1. Stop eating white foods. This may sound strange, but most white foods are either processed or a low glycemic carbohydrate and can quickly be converted to fat.
2. By-pass fast food restaurants. This one’s easy. If you don’t have to get out of your car, then speed on by.
3. Cut your portions in half. This is especially true when eating out. In fact when eating out, you can eat a third of the portion.
4. Eat four to six meals a day.
There are many diet books filled with pages and pages of information. One will probably work for you. However, making these simple changes are enough to begin seeing great results right away.
Best Foods to Burn Fat
We all know that some foods are better than others for us. There are some foods that could be considered super foods that will actually help you in your quest for flat six pack abs. The 12 foods you should eat are almonds and nuts, beans and legumes, spinach and green veggies, dairy, instant oatmeal, eggs, turkey and lean meat, peanut butter, olive oil, whole grains, extra protein powder and raspberries and other berries. This list comes from the Abs Diet by David Zinczenko, Editor-in-Chief of Men’s Health magazine.
Every meal should include at least 2 from the list. You can eat as many as you would like, because the more super foods you eat, the better your results.
Success Comes From Planning
Losing weight is hard. Have you ever started a new program only to find your food choices were the wrong one’s. You can make it easier by planning ahead. Don’t find yourself hungry only to go to the pantry or refrigerator to find it empty of the right foods. Make a list of the foods you need to be successful and make sure you have a full stock of them. To combat sabotaging your program, go ahead and remove all sugars and processed food from your pantry. All your efforts can be totally wrecked by an empty ‘fridge or empty pantry.
Best Exercise for Fat Loss
Of course, diet alone will not help you get flat six packs abs. The best exercises will burn fat and build muscle including your abs. Interval training is one of the best ways to build muscle and burn fat. With interval training you will be doing alternate sets of high intensity and low intensity exercises. The treadmill offers a easy, fast way to get started with interval training. To perform treadmill interval training, perform a two to three minute warm-up at a fairly low intensity. Then increase the intensity to about 70% to 80% of your maximum effort for one minute. Next decrease the intensity to 10% to 30% of your maximum for two minutes. Repeat this cycle eight times. Perform this routine three times per week with at least one day of rest in between workouts.
Do you really want flat six pack abs? Combine diet with super foods and interval training to burn fat. Soon your abs will re-appear and you will start receiving compliments on your health and fitness (i.e. your six pack abs)
