As we get older, things happen to our skin, like wrinkles. I have them but I am a man so I can get away with it. Unfortunately, ladies find it harder to get away with having a few wrinkles. As a man, I am not too bothered by a few wrinkles and as long as I keep my skin clean, I do not bother with it much and no one really notices. What we do notice though is skin on women, and because many men are somehow genetically programmed to be uncaring and insensitive about your skin, you spend a lot of time and effort to make your skin look good.</p>
<p>Why is it then that men can get away with wrinkles but women cannot? Is there anything you can do about it? If you adopt a skincare program then this should help to affect how your skin looks and more importantly it will affect how you feel as well, and that is very important. You have to remember that the skin is the largest organ within your body and so by adopting a skincare program you&#8217;re looking after yourself.</p>
<p>So what can you do about it? Well to start with after every shower even after you have dried yourself your skin is still damp and by applying moisturizer you are trapping moisture into your skin which is a great plus factor. Another one is to drink water and this hydration helps your skin as well. However, if you notice that even after this your skin is always dry and sometimes a little flakey, just visit your doctor to check things out. One other reason you should quickly visit is if there is a major change such as dark, (or lighter), skin patches and any changes or growth to moles you may have. Get these checked out just to make sure you have no problems.</p>
<p>One thing to watch out for is the effect the sun has on your skin. The sun is at its fiercest when it is highest, which is generally at midday, so just take care. Applying a good sunscreen helps, and another thing to take into consideration is that elastin, which is a substance in your skin, breaks down under strong sunlight. I had a great idea that I would drink beer instead of coffee as that is mainly water, but drinks containing alcohol, (including wine,) do not class as water either. It does not have to be bottled water either; tap water is fine as long as it is pure and clean. Not at bedtime though as drinking late at night means your body may retain this water causing your skin to stretch a little which is not something you want to happen.</p>
<p>Your skin also stretches when you become overweight and after a diet, and loosing weight, you will need to exercise to tone your skin into shape again. A younger person has more flexible skin but when you are older your skin is not as flexible and it becomes harder to tone your skin after loosing weight. The answer is not to try and put on weight in the first place but that is not always easy especially as we get older. However please try to keep weight gain off your skin care program as the two do not go together.</p>
<p>Whatever you decide to do, do some research and find out what will work best for you. One way of doing this is to talk to people selling skincare products in stores. <p>Rule one is making sure you are going to be quickly and evenly cooking your veggies. You will want consistent size and thickness in your pieces. Try cutting them no more than an inch thick to keep them from being tough and undercooked, or burnt. Soak veggies in water for thirty minutes or so before grilling to keep them from becoming dry.</p>
<p>Vegetables can be lightly brushed with your favorite oil to prevent sticking, and make sure they are not going to be overcooked. Remember that the high water content of most veggies means they will cook pretty quickly. If you are going to cook small items, use a grilling basket to keep them from falling through the grating.</p>
<p>There are lots of vegetables that require a little bit of special treatment on the grill to turn out well. Asparagus, for instance, requires only a little cooking, and grills up well with sesame oil. Soak it before cooking and turn it once every sixty seconds. I quickly found the Amazing Smoothie Recipes eBook which not only gave me great recipes, it also told me about the numerous health benefits of smoothies &#8211; which I was really interested in learning.</p>
<p>The eBook itself only cost me $9.95 and it was very easy to purchase and download, coming in a PDF file that could be saved to my computer as well as printed out to put in a ring binder. This was good for me as I was really excited to get reading and learning all about smoothies. It even had 4 bonus eBooks which are also really useful!</p>
<p>One thing that this eBook really helped me with is getting five or more portions of fruit and vegetables each day. It&#8217;s really important to our health, yet many of us struggle to even get three portions a day! Smoothies are a great way to overcome this problem, and eating fruit will even be fun! You can also tick off how many portions you get each day with a handy printable chart.</p>
<p>I wasn&#8217;t just interested in the recipes, though: I found it fascinating to sit down and simply read about how good fruit is for our bodies. When youre on a diet, it&#8217;s very reassuring to know that the recipes you&#8217;re making are giving you all the nutrients you need &#8221; and I learned a lot from this eBook. Take, for example, the fact that an important cancer-preventing ingredient, lycopene, is found in the watermelon which can be turned into a delicious drink! And that there are a whole range of antioxidants found in different fruits. </p>
<p>I also recommend the recipe on page 43 for the Pink Banana Smoothie, or the Apple Passion on page 37. And the good news is that they don&#8217;t require any fancy ingredients, just fruits stocked in your local supermarket. This is even great for anyone going on a raw diet &#8221; all it takes is a minute to whizz your food in the blender!</p>
<p>One important point to emphasise is that the measurements in this eBook all come in ml instead of cups. This shouldn&#8217;t be too much of a problem, since most measuring jugs come with both. If yours doesn&#8217;t, then I recommend buying a Pyrex measuring cup. Fortunately mine did measure in both, and I found that 1 cup was roughly equal to just over 200ml of juice.</p>
<p>My favourite thing about buying this recipe collection in eBook format was that I could download it as soon I bought it &#8211; and I could buy it at whatever time I wanted. <p>My friend Jack wanted to know when I was going to be back in New York while we were on the phone yesterday. The answer was: Much too soon. By Wednesday morning I should be on my way back to Long Island&#8217;s cold spring weather.</p>
<p>But on the good news front I got Jack to agree to help me with some heart healthy recipes. Jack is a chef who knows how to &#8220;throw down&#8221; as they say on the Food Network. And he agreed to start supplying me with easy to make, heart healthy recipes that I can pass along to you.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ll want to hit the old Print key on this one &#8211; I&#8217;ve eaten more than a couple meals at Jack&#8217;s and I&#8217;ve never had anything that wasn&#8217;t top notch.</p>
<p>One thing that always seems to be in season is cucumber, so here&#8217;s Jack&#8217;s recipe that uses them.</p>
<p>Cucumber Salad &#8211; serves 2</p>
<p>1 English Cucumber (the long ones) diced, and peeled, large 1/4 cup green bell pepper, small diced, 1/4 cup red bell pepper, small diced, 1/4 cup red onion, small diced, 1 tsp jalapeno pepper, small diced, 1/2 cup plain white vinegar, 1 Tbsp good olive oil, 1/2 Tbsp sugar, Black pepper, Sea salt</p>
<p>Peel the cucumber, and slice it in half the long way. Then slice in half the same way again. Dice the cucumber in 1/2 inch pieces and put in a bowl. Dice the onions and peppers, and add them to the bowl. Dice the jalapeno, add to the bowl, then wash yourself to make sure you aren&#8217;t carrying any juice from the jalapeno. Mix the olive oil, vinegar, and sugar together. Pour this over the cucumbers, onions, and peppers. Season with black pepper and sea salt. </p>
<p>You can serve this immediately, but it will be better if it sits for an hour or so. It can be served cold, or at room temperature. </p>
<p>It&#8217;s great with anything grilled, or even by itself as a snack.</p>
<p>Next time Jack will take this basic recipe, and extend it into a dinner salad by adding just a few more heart healthy ingredients.</p>
<p>Studies have shown that olive oil is a big help in a heart healthy diet, and a mediterranean diet is also helpful to general heart health. </p>
<p>Now I don&#8217;t plan on moving to Europe, and I suppose you aren&#8217;t going to either. But we can still learn some healthy habits from across the ocean.</p>
<p>Just make sure you&#8217;re getting the omega 3 fatty acids that you need every day. Your joints will feel better, your heart will run smoother, and your brain will function like a well oiled machine.</p>
