There are many mistruths out there when it comes to cellulite, though many people still believe they are the truth. It’s time to take a closer look and attempt to stop cellulite myths so that more people can find the relief that they really need to fully enjoy their life.
This lumpy appearance often shows up on the backside of the legs and rear end or the undersides of the arms. It causes great concern even for healthy and athletic people who would otherwise love every aspect of their body. Even people who are in great physical condition fall prey to a self-confidence issue due to this condition.
The first myth that needs to be tackled is that only overweight people get this condition. It is often believed that the lumpiness is due to too much fat in the body, but even skinny people who watch what they eat and maintain high levels of fitness are often affected.
It is likely that this is a genetic issue, as it can just as easily strike a thin person as it is someone with a weight problem. There is incentive to stay physically active though, since it is less obvious on thinner people.
The second myth is that you can follow a specific diet or get in more exercise to make it go away. It is true that the skin on a healthy, toned body is tighter and the condition will be less obvious, but it is not likely to go all the way away just by getting in shape. Remember, it can occur on a size 6 woman just as it can on a size 16.
Finally, the last myth is that this is something that only occurs on the female body. Men do suffer from this as well, but they do not talk about it as much.
Keeping in shape can in fact hide some of the lumpiness on your body and make it less obvious, but it will not stop cellulite altogether. The best way to get real relief is to keep your body in the best shape possible to downplay the appearance, and then use creams and gels that will even further reduce how visible it is to others.
