Being a mother is without a doubt, one of the greatest gifts in the world. All new moms are faced with the same issues: How do I lose the baby weight quickly and safely? How do I manage my time between the baby, family, and self?
As a mother of 5, I understand these challenges. I can remember holding my baby and asking myself How am I going to get all of this done and still get make it shape?
Then the answer hit me! I needed to figure out a way to work my fun time with my baby into my workouts. This way I could enjoy my quality time with my baby and still take care of myself.
The best thing about this strategy is that it doesn’t require a trip to the gym or an expensive personal trainer. You can do it in the comfort of your own home with a flexible schedule.
Here are some of the key things I learned
A Good Schedule is the Key
Anyone who has had a baby knows that both you and she operate best when a good schedule is kept. Keep your baby eating, sleeping and playing on a schedule and you will find it much easier to get your workouts in.
Have a workout area set up
Have an area in your house set up to workout in. Have it set up near the area your baby plays in so that you can keep an eye on her. Have whatever workout equipment you will use already set up in that area to save time.
Don’t forget the toys
This is a great time for bonding, so don’t forget to have your baby’s toys in the area. She will feel special knowing that she is included in your workout time and it will keep her busy.
Get on the Floor
Babies spend most of their first year on the floor. Use this to your advantage. Fill your workout area with plenty of clean towels and blankets for your baby to roll around on.
Crank Up the Tunes
Here is a cool fact. Certain types of music actually increase your baby?s IQ. The right type of music can also increase your energy level and bring intensity to your workout. Plus, it’?s just fun to listen to.
Have fun!
The most important thing is for you and your baby to have fun. Be creative and find ways to do things you both like to do. Keep it fresh and exciting.
Be Flexible
While it is important to try and stick to your schedule, there may be days where that is just not possible. Pre-plan several spots in your day where you can squeeze in your workout and then adjust as needed. Most importantly, don’t forget that this time is for you. There are going to be times where you are going to have to tell yourself that the housework can wait until after your workout. Trust me; you will be happier and more balanced in the long run.
After having 5 kids in less than 10 years, I know how difficult in can be to lose the weight. The steps in this article are a great way to start shedding your ?baby fat?.
