This is a very debatable question, but your health is what is important. Do you add additional activity to your lifestyle, or do you change your eating habits, eating a well-balanced diet?

Simply eat less, to weigh less, right? Not quite! A temporary change in eating or exercising is not the answer, a more permanent change to your lifestyle is. Learn what foods are best, which foods you need to use in moderation, and which to avoid.

Consult your family doctor or consult with a nutritionist. You will soon learn that fad diets are potentially dangerous to your well being. They are a waste of time and should be avoided. This will take an effort on your part, but will be well worth it.

Beginning and sticking to balanced diet will take some sacrifice and discipline on your part. No more quick trips to fast food restaurants, this is no longer an option, if you are serious about changing your lifestyle for the better.

Most experts concur that not gaining weight is the best solution, however, most people are not even aware of a serious weight gain, until 15, 20, 30 lbs, and already out of control. Now the frenzy starts, and most resort to fad diets, and inevitable failure.

Even while loosing weight you must be concerned about proper nutrition. Proteins, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins, fiber requirements must all be met, and a balanced diet will help you do that. Starvation never works, and it leads to serious health problems.

Don’t forget about the fringe benefits of eating sensibly. The resulting lowered cholesterol and tryglyceride levels reduce your risk of heart disease, while stable blood sugar minimizes your risk of diabetes and its associate problems.

Some say, the closest thing we have to the fountain of youth is exercise, and many agree. It can change how you look, your daily performances, and how you feel. All positive benefits of exercise.

For an exercise program to get results, you need to set aside a certain amount of time and energy! Running yourself into the ground, working long hours, and not sleeping right hardly makes for the ideal scenario. Here too the solution involves a bit of self-education, discipline, and prioritizing. The key to success is formulating an exercise plan that doesn’t waste your time and effort.

Use caution here! There is tendency to overdo, more is not better, at least not in the beginning. You run the risk of injury or illness, if you are not careful. Use an exercise program that starts off slowly, becomes more intensive as you learn how to exercise, and you will avoid any mishaps.

One option would be to go to a gym, but the monthly fees could prove heavy, and not within your means. Don’t be discouraged. There are plenty of inexpensive and excellent home machines available to you. Fortunately, the cost of such machinery is not what gets the wanted results. By setting up your exercise equipment, at home, can save you a good deal of money. No gym fees, and no travel time between home and gym. A small investment that results in convenience, savings, and effectiveness of your weight loss program.

A well balanced diet will fuel your workouts and supply your growing muscles with much needed nutrients, while at the same time requiring you to workout less. Exercise will burn excess calories, rev up your metabolism and allow you to eat more without gaining weight.

It should be no surprise that you will actually be able to eat more while loosing weight. Both exercise and diet are needed, don’t choose between them, but use both of them.
