Are you an avid hoop player who plays either as a professional basketball player or just a weekend player who’s in it for the fun and the fitness it gives your body? If your answer is yes to either question, then I’m pretty sure you know that height is one of the important considerations in this sport. If you have the height, then you have some very good options on which playing position you might want to play going forward in your basketball training.

For instance, if you are a 6 footer at the most, you might be great for the point guard position especially if you like directing plays. On the other hand, if you are 6 feet and higher, you usually will be allowed to play as a shooting guard which is a pretty exciting position since you are the one who executes offensive plays and get the chance to score!

The other playing positions, i.e., the small forward, power forward, the center, are positions that require higher player heights. But even if not everyone is given the ideal height that they wish for, you can always find a good position that will fit your basketball personality and skill. Most surely if you are one of the better skilled players which, we all know, comes after proper and dedicated basketball training.

Everybody starts from nowhere, back to basics as they say. Even pro hoop players first learned the basketball basics before they went on to doing their own signature moves that amaze basketball fanatics.

Before you can shoot that basketball, you must start by learning how to properly dribble towards the goal. Before you can dunk, you must learn how to get some hang time. Free throws more difficult to do than they look the same way lay ups are easier said than done! You must first learn the basics before you can become better with your game-winning maneuvers!

However do you understand the basics yourself? While you can read books on various basketball exercises, it is still better if you can get the services of personal basketball trainers.

The Benefits of Getting a Good Personal Basketball Trainer:

1. He will impart to you the most efficient way of training for basketball.

While understanding the basics is quite easy, it is still of utmost importance to do them properly as they will reduce your chances of injuring yourself while you are undergoing training. Furthermore, the fundamentals are the seed to achieve those picture perfect basketball moves that bring in those championship rings!

2. Your basketball trainer will motivate you to go to the gym regularly.

Paying for a personal trainer will motivate you to get your money’s worth. And as the trainer is paid to look after your training, it is his duty to push you to do what you need to do to succeed in your training.

3. He will help you keep your eye on your goal.

Great personal coaches are honest to their wards because they need to let them know if they are good at what they do as well as if they are doing nasty mistakes. When you are training for basketball, honesty is a necessity, most especially on the trainer’s part. He should let his trainee know what he is is doing right or wrong to keep him inspired and motivated.

4. He will create the right program for you.

Not everyone was born with the same athletic skills so each one needs a program that is different from what others need. This is the basic idea of why you need to get a personal trainer. Your trainer’s job is to create the most effective program for your unique needs.

5. Your basketball trainer will be there to record and assess your improvements or lack thereof.

He should be in the best position to do this because he is the one who formulated your training program. He can quickly tell if it’s working or not and make the necessary adjustments to correct your training.

Even Shaquille O’Neil needs free throw trainers to help him improve his free throw shooting. It did not help him much but that is the point. Everyone of us have individual needs and we need personal training to help us target those needs. Personal trainers are great at doing that and any basketball player who is serious on improving his game will do well to consider hiring himself one.
