Many people want to know how to lose weight quickly, perhaps up to six pounds in a week. It can be confusing when you see the hundreds of different diets available, each promising amazing results. Some diets restrict your food groups, others only allow you one food and some diets are so boring that they are almost impossible to stick to for any length of time.

The first thing that you should think about when you are considering losing weight is that you should remove the fried foods, sugars, bad carbohydrates, fat-filled items and general fatty foods out of your diet. Think about the sodas and the alcohol that you typically drink, along with any juices that might be high in sugars carbohydrates. Drink water instead, or black coffee or unsweetened tea. This can help you visualize the weight draining of, but remember that it isn’t going to go on its own!

By eating lean meats, vegetables and fruit and watching your portions, pounds may start to drop off and you may be able to drop six pounds in a week. But some people also just lose what is often called “water weight” the first week. Since your body is 90% water, by not eating as much, you may not be taking in as much water through your food, so it is not a permanent weight loss, and will return when you start eating normal or take in more water.

If you want to make sure that the weight that you lose is permanent, you will find that you need to eat fewer calories than what you burn if you want to lose six pounds a week. Try walking a little further every day. It will clear your mind, and you will find that it can also do wonders to speed up your metabolism.

When you have cut the sugar, carbohydrates and fat out of your diet and started a fitness program, you might think you have the key to weight loss but as your metabolism adjusts, you might find that your weight plateaus. What to do here is to fool your brain signals of fat storing or fat burning hormones into controlling your metabolism.

This is where a highly restrictive diet stops working. The metabolism starts making up for the deficit calorie intake and learns to function with fewer calories, fewer carbohydrates, or less sugar and starts holding on to the fat stores in the cells. So then you feel like you are depriving yourself, and give up and go back to eating like you did before. This is how some people not only gain back weight they lost, but end up weighing more than before they started.

Remember that when you are in a place to lose weight that you will need to balance the foods that you eat with regards to how good they are at burning fat and what they can give you nutritionally. You will find that figuring out what your body needs and how much it needs and when it needs it, you will find that you can speed up your metabolism and burn more calories, all without needing to work out excessively.

If you learn how to lose weight with fat burning, nutritional foods at regular intervals and proper portions, it is possible to drop nine pounds every eleven days, and still enjoy the foods that will not make the diet feel so restrictive, and you will be more apt to stay on it long-term to lose weight.
