An easy way to give your body a high level of great nutrition is by juicing. Many health conscious people have already taken up juicing and praise how wonderful it is. You might now be asking, what is this juicing and what is so great about it?
Well, there are 3 main reasons why juicing is so beneficial :
1) Juice requires little digestion so all the nutrition is quickly absorbed into your body
2) Juicing requires you to use more fruits and/or vegetables that you could eat in a day resulting in a drink that is densely packed with vitamins, minerals and other plant nutrients.
3)Liver detoxification
Below are some of the many health benefits of juicing :
Improves the heart and cardiovascular systems:
- Both antioxidant vitamins C and E prevent the damaging effect of free radicals on artery walls, they prevent blood from sticking and clotting as well as keeping the blood non-toxic. Good to great levels of vitamin C can be found in most vegetables and fruits. For vitamin E you can use blackberries, kiwi, asparagus and spinach in your juicer recipes.
- Potassium and magnesium are essential for proper heart function and a regular heart beat. Blackberries are a good source for both these minerals.
Detoxifying the liver ” this is fundamental for good health:
- The liver performs many important functions. To clean the blood, remove toxins, and remove metabolic waste is one of the livers main functions. We are exposed to so many toxins in our everyday life that we need to be very diligent in keeping our liver clean so it can help do the same for us!
- Liver cleansing is achieved through certain nutrients. Vitamin C and E, beta-carotene, and N-acetyl cysteine are antioxidants that are powerful liver cleansers. B-vitamins riboflavin and niacin also help with liver cleansing. Cauliflower, cabbage and brussel sprouts have also been found to be good for the liver.
- Helps with hair, nails, skin, and eyes:
- The antioxidants vitamins E and C prevent damage to the skin from the sun because of their ability to neutralize free radicals. Juicing blueberries and blackberries will give you a great source of both vitamins C and E if used together.
- A deficiency in Vitamin B2 causes hair loss, cracked lips, dermatitis and other skin problems. Using spinach, kale, and asparagus in your juices will give you the vitamin B2 need to prevent such skin conditions.
- The most important nutrient for keeping your eyes healthy is Vitamin A. In order to get Vitamin A in your diet you must first consume beta-carotene found in orange fruits and veggies. Beta-carotene is broken down and processed by our body and turned into vitamin A which is essential for the eye to properly function and to discourage night blindness. Both A and C vitamins help to reduce the chance of cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. Carrot juice is an awesome way to ingest both Vitamins A and C.
Rebuilding blood cells:
- Yep you read that right! Chlorophyll makes it possible to rebuild your blood cells and has many more health benefits, too many to list here!
Under a microscope, chlorophyll looks almost identical a component of the red blood cell called hemin. When you assimilate chlorophyll, scientists have discovered that by way of a chemical shift, the chlorophyll actually becomes hemin. Broken down in layman’s terms, this basically means you are getting a blood transfusion when you take chlorophyll.
The reason plants are green is because of chlorophyll. This is why it is so important to put green vegetables in your juicer recipes! It is important to note that the darker the green, the more chlorophyll that vegetable contains.
Improving your immune system:
- Juicing on a regular basis with varied juices is the best way to give you a wider variety of antioxidants essential for a healthy immune system. Besides the antioxidants from fruits and vegetables (including vitamins A, C, E), they also provide a plant chemical called phytochemicals. There are amazing health benefits from phytochemicals including anti-cancer properties.
