Learning to dance increases your pulse rate and gets your body moving. It gets you out of the house and out having fun. You can choose to join any type of dance that you like and experience variety of movement. You no longer have to get into those gym clothes and head off to your local health center every week. Get yourself some instructions for dance and get moving.
When you learn to dance you have variety. You no longer need to do the same repetitive movements over and over again. Your pulse quickens and your heart beat pumps along with the beat of the music as you are engerised and incentivised!
You can learn to dance at home with a dvd or at your local town hall or gym. You don’t have to be stuck in the same room on a piece of equipment like an exercise bike or rowing machine week after week. The dancing activity alone stimulates both your mind and body. You don’t need to be plugged into headphones for example. It also allows you to experience new types of tunes. My friend had no idea how great some types of music are until she went to her local evening instructions for dance classes!
What type of person are you? Do you think you are young, energetic and outgoing? Or are you the more slow type who likes to take things more slowly, but still has fun while doing it? Well, don’t worry about what type of person you are, there is a dance type out there for you. There are extremely fast breakdance schools, or salsa and samba, or for the more sedate person, there is ballroom dancing and tea dances. If you prefer to be taught one to one, then there are lessons available for you. You may want to learn something proficiently and be extremely good. Or you may just want to go out for a bit of high energy fun. All types of dances are available.
A huge advantage to learning to dance as a form of exercise is that there is no need to change into tight fitting lycra and spandex multi-colored clothes. Or, if you don’t do lycra, then even the big baggy t-shirts and leggings are not necessary. When you are learning to dance, you can wear your normal everyday clothes or you can dress right up and look as glamorous as you want.
One piece of good advice is not to splurge on expensive clothes or equipment which you will not use. For example, don’t buy expensive tap dancing shoes or all the clothes for Turkish belly dancing and then go to one lesson and find that you hate it.
You don’t have to spend a fortune on instructions for dance in order to be learning how to dance. There are plenty of very good DVDs, videos and books that will teach you how to master the basic steps for a wide variety of popular dances. Add in some suitable music, grab a partner and above all, make sure at all times that you have fun!
