I Will Never Use Anything Else Than This – Custom Yoga Mat Critique

This is a very nice yoga mat. However, if your palms ever sweat when doing yoga, I wouldn’t recommend this product.

I just found the perfect yoga bag for this mat, it actually fits and easily! If you know anything about Manduka mats you know this is the best.

I think I need to break it in a little more. It’s too soon to tell whether or not I’ll shred this one too.

This mat is amazing! It’s definitely worth a try. However, after a week of regular use and washing after each use with mat wash, the stickiness is really beginning to come through. The thickness is incredibly helpful for holding poses — this mat doesn’t bunch or slip around on the floor — and the extra space (both a little wider and longer than my old mat) is especially nice in very full classes. It’s great for daily practice and to take to the gym. It’s heavy, but it’s worth the extra weight.

Love it and Save money here. Simply the best mat I have ever practiced on. I practice 3-4x/week when I’m on a roll, and I can’t imagine using a thinner, cheaper mat. Totally worth the price if you want to get serious about your practice. I bought it to use it for P90X and it serves this purpose well. This mat is of very good quality; it doesn’t move when you use it, it is comfortable, and it is large. It’s too heavy and bulky for lugging back and forth to classes. Keep this one at home, and bring the lighter weight one for yoga class.

It’s not worth the frustration, time, or energy! And if you do, get ready to slip all over the place!

Unfortunately after breaking it in and using the Vermont organic mat wash (recommended by Manduka) my hands still slip a lot and require a towel or yogi toes at all times. Evidently, I’m purchasing the Jade Harmony mat as a replacement. Slipping is an issue, but not a huge problem for me personally. But there’s no way I would ever risk trying a downward dog on this thing. Once I plant my hands for downward-dog, they stay there. I washed the mat twice when I first got it with a sponge and mild dishwashing detergent (which is probably a huge no-no, but oh well). For me it wouldn’t matter what mat I was using the minute I start sweating I slide. It is heavier than the $10 mats from Target, but I can easily lift it with one hand.

I currently only use this mat at home, so I can’t give much feedback for portability, but it is somewhat heavy so it might not travel well. TUFTED OTTOMAN BENCH.
