Many of have been forced to eat those things called fruits and veggies. For some it might be the worst childhood nightmare after what they swear not to have even one when they will grow up.
If you\’re among above then unfortunately this won\’t sound good for you. Fruits and veg are a base of a healthy diet and if you want to have a healthy body and feel good you will have to eat them anyway.
Well, actually you could live without them but in that case excess body weight could be very realistic problem for you or you wouldn\’t feel good for most of the time.
The problem that we don\’t like and don\’t want veggies is overcooking. Who would like soft, colourless and tasteless mass of something? Veg lose their vitamins also this way and their consumption become pointless and complete waste of your hard earned money.
Daily you should really eat 5-10 servings of veggies and fruit and it can be done quite easily (yeah, right, you must be thinking now). Actually, one serving is nothing. Glass of juice with the pulp is one serving, medium apple is one serving, and medium carrot is one serving. Achievable isn\’t it?
Preparation for many is a problem but when done on your spare time it really isn\’t. What about preparing your fruits and veg before you go to bed?
Prepare all your fruits before your bedtime; peel and slice them and put them in small sandwich bags. You could actually prepare a variety of fruits and veg for next few days and keeping them in fridge.
Previously prepared bags with your healthy snacks can be easily brought to work. Keep them on your desk and empty one every time you crave for food or snack. Don\’t forget to get a salt shaker and add some salt to your veggie snacks to release more of the flavour.
Soups are another way of increasing your consumption of vegetables. Make them yourself because canned soups tend to contain plenty of salt and fat and these two are not good for you.
One salad portion also equals one serving of vegetables so having a salad for lunch is a great idea. Don\’t overload it with salad dressing but better use vinegar or an oil instead.
Try to increase your fruit and veg consumption by following this:
Add more fruits to your breakfast by adding them to your cereal. This way you will get more fibre and sugar won\’t be needed to sweeten up your meal. Drink a glass of juice with the pulp and \”eat\” an extra portion of fruit.
Lunch – eat salads if you can and don\’t overdo with the salad dressing by better add some extra oil or vinegar. Have a fruit for the desert as this is much better than having a cake.
Dinner. Threat yourself with vegetarian pizza or even better, have some fish with greens and corn to make your dinner even healthier.
