If you ask someone what their goal is when it comes to exercising, most will tell you the same answer, I want to lose weight. If you want to lose a few pounds, this is a great thing to aspire to do. You might want to lose the weight because you can fit into your old clothes anymore. You might want to lose a few pounds and bulk up with some muscle. Whichever it is that you want to do; you need to have a plan to succeed.

In order to achieve the goals that you want with exercising, then you have to know the step by step plan to get there. There are also things that you need to not do as well. Below are a few things that you will want to do and not want to do.

Let’s get this plan together or you are planning to fail without one. If you were going to a destination for whatever reason, you would print out directions to get there. Right? Well this is the something, just a different detail. You need a map of success so you can get to the destination that you are looking for. Keep track of what you do hourly and make sure that it will get you to the destination. If what you are doing won’t work, STOP doing it!

Education is a big one in this world no matter what you are doing. I talking about understanding the generals here, not get a PhD in personal training. Just make it a point to understand the body and exercising. A personal trainer can help with this and get you on a great start.

You have to know what is realistic. A lot of people want to go into a gym and start doing what they people there that are in really good shape are doing. It doesn’t work this way. You can’t just go to the gym on Saturday and spend 4 hours there your first time. You will kill yourself if you try this. It’s ok to be excited about getting in shape, but having a realistic plan will keep you on track and keep you focused.

You will lose weight. It will happen. You just have to wait to get it off. It won’t happen overnight, so do expect it to. Look for results once a week if not once every two weeks. Don’t give up!
