One of the great things about the World Wide Web is the amount of information we can access. Never before have we been able to retrieve so much information without leaving the comfort of our own backyards. If you want to know what life is like in say, Bhutan, we can just type it into our search engines and, viola; all kinds of references pop up on our screens.

The way that our lifestyles have changed are similar to the last turn of the century when they went from horse and buggy, candles, and writing letters to driving cars, flying airplanes, having electricity, and using phones in a matter of about thirty years.

Maybe it’s a century-changing karma thing. Great minds are given a boost by the universe and wonderful things are invented and implemented to make our lives easier. Can you imagine taking each article of clothing and rubbing it across a washboard every week to get it clean? Or having a relative, say your sister or brother, move 500 miles away and having nothing but letters from them for the next ten years because they’re too far away to visit?

Just thirty years ago, if your car broke down on a trip, you, or someone in your car was either going to have to thumb a ride, or start walking to the nearest phone or service station for help. You could spend hours talking on the phone, but you were tethered to the wall by a cord, so you could only go so far. The best you could do was to have a ten or twenty-foot cord attached to the phone body so you could at least do dishes or cook while chatting on the phone.

Most of us though, have gone completely digital. With the storage capacities of our computers, we no longer have to create photo albums unless we want to. And creating those albums can accomplished with a click of the print and proper photo paper to print on. We can even plug our cameras or computers into the television and watch the videos without all the equipment set-up of the old projectors and mini screen – unless we want to.

All the innovations of this 21st century have changed the way we live dramatically. Just as the inventions of the last century rollover, our world has become smaller than ever. Being able to call someone halfway around the world was almost like magic. Now, you can check out what’s happening at your favorite business with their live feeds being broadcast in and around their headquarters.
