The one thing you really need to make a children’s party a success is lots of food! Children are always busy, so it makes it easy for you to plan for small finger foods. This gives them the ability to run up to the refreshments table, grab a bite to eat and go back to what they were doing. Try to serve a wide variety of snacks so they have a good chance of discovering one or two items they really like.
Alternatively, you could give each child a dish of goodies for themselves. This works really well if you do not want to lay out a lot of foods and you know, what each child likes. One of the most exciting things about making party foods for kids is that you get to use a lot of imagination. Cut things in fun shapes or make foods that resemble other things.
A food you cannot go wrong with is sandwiches. You can easily make small finger sandwiches filled with a variety of spreads. Stay away from nut spreads in case someone has nut allergies. Cut them up with cookie cutters to make them even more fun. Arrange them on a colorful tray to set them off nicely. Fun shapes would include dinosaurs, hearts, triangles, circles, teddy bears, or trees.
Every kid loves pizza. Make up some pizzas and cut them into bite sized pieces that they can easily pop into their mouths. They will taste a lot better than frozen pizza rolls and you will not have to worry about toppings being too hot like you can with fillings. Keep the pizzas simple… cheese is a perennial favorite with kids. You can also add a little chopped pepperoni or ham to make them more interesting.
Anything with dips will be a hit. Kids love to dip things. Serve up sliced fruit or chopped vegetables with a dip. Chips and dip are a good choice. Make sure you choose a sturdy chip that will not easily break off in the dip bowl. Hummus makes a nice dip that is also healthy if your kids like it.
A real fun food is pigs in a blanket. Use the tiny smoky sausages and roll them up with a little cheese and some biscuit dough. Bake them until done. These treats are great for little hands and fun for them to eat. If the kids are older, you can serve them on toothpicks or cut up cooked hot dogs or other foods and put them on sticks.
It is easy to find these appetizer and dip recipes that you can make yourself. Do not hire any expensive caterers… this stuff is simple. Add in a few sweets as dessert like small cakes, cookies, or popcorn treats. Be sure they have plenty to drink. Punch, juice or another favorite beverage will do fine.
As you can see, hosting a kids’ party can be simple. Provide plenty of fun foods and all your guests will be happy. You can easily prepare most of these ahead of time. Just put in a little planning and some great snacks.
Preparing a cold appetizer recipe should be simple. Small cups of ceviche, fruit and dip or vegetable crudits are all examples of cold appetizers. There are so many things you can do to keep your munch happy guests satisfied. They make terrific snacks, too.
