It is justly said that “change is the spice of life”. Now this phrase applies to nearly all walks of life. We want a change after every few hours, every few days, and every few months and even after a few years. The things that used to be of enormous interest once lose their importance and other things take up their place. The same is the case in the health industry.
Up till a few years back, the green tea was hailed as the most superb product of nature normally for its nutritional essence. Now the throne has been usurped by a tiny little dark purple colored berry called the acai berry.
The acai berry is packed with vital nutrients like antioxidants, minerals, vitamins, essential fatty acids like omega 3, 6 and 9. All these nutrients make the berries a major source of energy, a product that slows the ageing process, detoxifies and strengthens the immune system. With relatively no known side effects this berry can be consumed in many forms from juices and smoothies to pills and capsules.
The acai berry boom has lead to a spurt in many new companies that produce, process or sell acai berry products and supplements. This boom has lead to develop in revenue for the native growers of Brazil where these berries are abundantly grown and harvested.
Till a few years back these berries had not seen the outside world but now they have become the favorites among health and nutrition experts. The credit for the success of acai berries goes to the ever inquisitive and probing media. With the media hype the acai berry has been placed highly among all super foods. The only negative impact is that with this boom certain companies are blending the acai extract with other ingredients thus compromising on quality and belying the innocent consumer.
