When I first started weightlifting, I made some big mistakes with bodybuilding supplements. Before I had even drawn up an eating plan or workout routine I was consuming Optimum Nutrition 100% whey supplement. After not seeing any results I gave up using and was certain that it didn’t work.

If I wasn’t so hasty about using protein powders, I would have been able to get much better results faster. It’s not that they don’t work, because they do, it’s that you need to use them in a certain way for them to be effective.

I now know that before you get into using additional protein from supplements, you should have your bodybuilding plan worked out. When you have that and you’ve gained some experience using it, you’ll be able to use other means of nutrition to enhance your gains.

The main parts of bodybuilding are having a good diet and nutrition plan and exercise routine. If you don’t have these things then all the supplements in the world won’t help you pack on pounds.

When creating your diet, focus on getting a lot of protein into it so that your body can properly repair and grow after exercising. Without enough protein you can seriously damage your muscles with bodybuilding as they won’t be able to repair themselves properly.

If you don’t know what specific foods to put into your diet, go with some of the obvious ones at first. For instance, make sure that your eating a lot of meat and drinking loads of milk.

As soon as you have completed your diet plan, begin experimenting with different exercises down the gym. Over time you will be able to draw out a workout routine which gets results, but at first just test things out.

When designing your workouts, only include about 12 sets in total and aim to stimulate every main muscle group in your body. You should set your exercise routine to be about 40 minutes long and make sure that you eat as soon as you finish.

Once you have these 2 elements in place, you can start to consume some protein powder and you will see your results double.
