In essence, a belly fat diet is no different from more “generalized” diet. You ought to achieve a negative balance between calorie intake and consumption to effectively lose fat including those on your tummy. Having said that, there is no need to complicate the process by calculating the calories. As long as you have a good knowledge about the foods that burn fat and accelerate metabolism, you are good to go. On the other hand, you also need to know about those foods that will easily put fat on you and stay away from those as much as you can.
Despite that it is our aim to get rid of the extra fat on our abs, a belly fat diet needs to be balanced and beneficial to our overall health. There is no point to achieve a good size by deteriorating your health. With that in mind, let us dive in!
1. Protein
The best sources of protein are lean meat like fish (tuna, trout or salmon) and chicken. Nuts, seeds and soy products also make valuable sources of protein.
2. Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates derived from wholegrain cereal, brown rice, fruit and vegetables will help you lose fat. These foods should be your first options for carbohydrate needs.
Sugary sweets, cookies, crackers, pastas and white bread contain bad carbohydrates that turn into fat deposits, and even cause a rise in the blood sugar level.
3. Healthy Fats
A belly fat diet should also include valuable fats, otherwise known as oily acids (Omega 3, 6 and 9). They reduce high cholesterol, support the cardiovascular system and contribute to a detoxification of the body. Almonds, nuts, seeds, tuna and salmon are rich in valuable fats. The same holds valid for butter and extra virgin olive oil.
Margarine and animal fat are totally opposite types of fats, in terms of both nutritional value and weight control function. You should completely rule them out from your belly fat diet.
4. Vegetables and Fruits
Both vegetables and fruits provide you with plenty of vitamins, minerals and fibers. These ingredients will boost your energy level without adding extra pounds to your body.
That being said, it is not recommended have fruit after meat because these two foods have different digestive tempos and mixing them may lead to fermentation.
While we have discussed how different nutritional elements contribute to a belly fat diet, you should be aware that a good fitness level can only be achieved and maintained when you combine healthy eating with proper exercises. You will also need to stick to this healthy life style for long to enjoy the long term benefits. Don’t think this must be boring. Once you have tuned yourself into this healthy status, you will not look back.
