You will find a lot of interesting tips for weight loss when you read health magazines on a regular basis. While a few of these tips are effective, many others can actually be harmful. The ineffective weight loss techniques usually involve fad dieting, pills, and weight loss supplements. As always, it’s the simpleness of diet and exercise advice that really work for people.

Unfortunately, there is incorrect information and myths surrounding the entire industry of weight loss, and truths become easily twisted to serve companies trying to sell products, or simply from ignorance. I would like to talk about three of these myths.

Myth #1: It is possible to decrease fat in specific areas of the body: False. Any reputable weight loss professional will wholeheartedly agree. It’s impossible to make your body eliminate fat in any one specific spot, regardless of which workouts you add to your regimen. If you try to reduce your excess belly fat by doing frequent leg lifts and crunches, you’ll start to see your abdomen’s muscle mass reduce far faster than your actual belly fat will. This is when you should be including a healthy diet to help speed up your metabolism so it can help burn fat faster, instead of focusing on crunches or leg lifts as the only option.

Myth#2: Dramatically reducing your daily calorie intake will diminish your body fat: False. Many people have found themselves on the edge of crash dieting by subscribing to this myth. Even though people think crash dieting will melt those extra pounds, they need to realize they are hurting their bodies more than helping them. Truthfully, if you start to starve your body, it will sense that you are trying to kill it, an it will enter a self-preserving ‘starvation mode’. In this mode, your body responds to the perceived threat by slowing your metabolism and burning your muscles to produce energy, avoiding using the unwanted fat that your body keeps in reserve. So now, not only are you not achieving the desired result of losing fat, but you are undermining your health by putting your body’s muscle in jeopardy. To make matters worse, you will put on even more weight when you lapse back to your normal diet!

Myth #3 : You can lose weight by doing cardio exercises alone. Cardio exercises are definitely an excellent way to fast weight loss, but it’s false that only cardio is capable of shedding extra weight. Aerobics are also excellent for this. The advantages of these two types of exercise are very similar. Conversely, if you want an exercise that surpasses both aerobics and cardio, try weight lifting. Lifting weights burns fat during the exercise periods, and after you’re done also! The most efficient choice for permanent fat loss is combining weight lifting and cardio exercise.

I very much hope that you can find effective weight loss by using the tips that I have presented above.
