Like so many people on a quest to lose weight, I have often asked the question ‘Do Diet Pills Work?’. I decided to do some research to see if I could answer this question, and what I came up with is actually two answers in one. The actual answer is ‘yes’ and ‘no’. On one hand, I found out that yes, you can find diet pills that help you lose weight. But on the other hand, I also came to the conclusion that no diet pill will effect weight loss miracles, and in fact to make any of them reach their maximum efficacy you need to combine a healthy eating and exercise schedule with your chosen diet pill.

Not all diet pills are the same. The type of appropriate diet pill will vary from person to person. Some diet pills are intended to suppress appetite. Some are intended to boost metabolism. Other slimming pills are meant to attach to fat and expel it before it can be absorbed by your body. Some diet pills are synthetic while others are made from all natural ingredients.

You have probably seen the claims of ‘all natural diet pills’ and wondered whether they were any more effective or better for your health than synthetic diet pills. Although there are some proven safe and effective synthetic diet pills available, I tend to believe that natural substances used for their intended purpose are inherently better for you. This is not to say that every ‘all natural’ diet pill is necessarily effective – you need to do the research on the safety and effectiveness studies, as well as make sure that you choose a natural diet pill that actually contains the necessary quantity and balance of effective weight loss ingredients.

Take for example Hoodia Gordonii – this is an example of a natural diet pill, which is in the appetite suppressant category of weight loss supplements. The effectiveness of this pill was observed long ago by tribesman in Africa, when they were on extended hunting trips. Hoodia Gordonii was used as an appetite suppressant when food was scarce. In the modern day weight loss industry, Hoodia Gordonii has been proven safe and effective as a weight loss supplement, but it is important to pay attention to the product you buy, since there have been reports for just about as long as Hoodia has been on the market, that some versions of this diet pill do not contain the actual active ingredient, or do not contain the proper amount to be effective. Protect yourself by going through a reputable source to ensure that the product you buy is going to be effective.

Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is another effective all natural diet pill. Researchers at the University of Guelph in Ontario found that subjects who took a daily CLA supplement lost more weight than a group that took a placebo pill. Both groups were controlled for the amount of calories they consumed and the amount of exercised undertaken. This study was completed in the months leading up to Christmas and over the Christmas period.

You can gain a definite advantage in your dieting program by finding a safe and effective diet pill to help with your weight loss efforts. But you need to understand that taking diet pills without additional efforts is not going to be the answer to your weight problems. I know this is not the answer that a lot of people are looking for, but keep in mind that losing weight is really just one part of being healthy. Your real goal should be living a healthy lifestyle, and if you do that then a healthy weight will generally result. Using diet pills to help with the transition to a better healthy lifestyle is often the boost that many people need to get their weight back on track.
