Eating out is part of our culture, it’s virtually impossible to avoid eating out if you want a normal social life. And even if you did stop eating out, it wouldn’t be sustainable.
The problem with eating out, however, is that it’s the fastest way to gain weight.
So, without further ado, here is how to prevent restaurants from making you gain weight:
1. Avoid low blood sugar: Too many people forcefully starve themselves before eating out in order to get their money’s worth. Do this and you will set yourself up for some massive fat storage. You see, lower blood sugar will make you eat a lot more than you would otherwise.
2. Pick lean cuts of meat: Many dishes at restaurants are caloric bombs because of their fat content. If you simply strip the fat away, these dishes become much healthier. So make sure you choose dishes with lean cuts of meat.
3. Avoid bread: That bread basket not only has a ton of calories, but it also has a ton of carbs. And recall that calories and carbs lead to massive weight gain. The best approach here is to ask the waiter to not bring out the bread.
4. Get half of your meal to go: Avoid the urge to eat everything on your plate because many dishes have an entire days worth of calories. And eating a whole days worth of calories in one sitting is not good for you. So just get half of it to go before you start eating.
5. Have a salad with your meal: This is perhaps the simplest, yet most effective thing you can do to minimize the damage here. Not only will the salad help you feel full quicker, but it will also lower the caloric load of your meal. Just be careful with the toppings.
6. Stay away from the deep fried section of the menu: If you go the deep fried route not only will you drastically increase caloric content, but you will also increase the amount of unhealthy fats on your plate. So for best results here, avoid anything that is deep fried.
