Trying to lose weight while not getting good sleep is like trying to push a boulder up a hill. Your body cannot lose weight at maximum speed if you aren’t sleeping well.
Unfortunately, many weight loss hopefuls do not know how to get quality sleep.
So here is how to sleep better:
1. Don’t let any light hit your eyes: Light is a very powerful stimulant for waking you up. And if light is hitting your face early in the morning, it will be very hard for you to go back to sleep. So make sure there isn’t a single ray of light disrupting your sleep.
2. Don’t exercise late in the day: Ignore the current advice that exercise 4 hours before bed is best, it’s not. Instead, exercise a couple hours after waking. If you do this you will fall asleep much faster and will stay asleep for much longer.
3. Decrease the size of your last meal by half: This is a very simple, yet effective strategy for helping you fall asleep quicker. You see, this trick helps your metabolism slow down which in turn helps you sleep better. After all, your body naturally shuts down it’s metabolism so that you can sleep.
4. Get lots of light during the day: Light during the day will increase you alertness by leaps and bounds. This in turn will make falling asleep much easier. You will also get deeper sleep. Now if you have an office job a great alternative is to use a light box.
5. Make your room cold: But you don’t want it to be so cold that you wake up in the middle of the night. The good thing about colder temperatures is that they help you fall asleep. In fact, your core temperature decreases when you are asleep.
6. Wake up at the same time no matter what: This is by far the best thing you can do to enhance you sleeping patterns. The key here is to wake up at the same time during the week and during the weekend. If you deviate, your quality of sleep will deteriorate.
Getting a good night’s sleep will not only increase your mood, but it will also increase your rate of fat loss. So take heed of this advice tonight!
