Having a regular schedule isn’t just about being productive, it’s about life and death. You see, almost every single system in your body is controlled by circadian rhythms which are controlled by your schedule.
Even worse, out of whack circadian rhythms can decrease your lifespan.
So, without further ado, here are 6 negative aspects of having an irregular schedule:
1. Less heat: Your body produces more heat when it’s burning the most fat. If you simply follow a haphazard schedule, your heat production will go down which in turn will decrease the amount of body fat you burn on a daily basis.
2. Compromised blood circulation: People with severe sleeping disorders, which have a direct impact on circadian rhythms, have much higher levels of blood pressure. Thus, if your schedule isn’t regular, you are more at risk for developing high blood pressure.
3. Decreased metabolic rate: Your metabolic rate is the sum total of processes happening in your body. Thus, a decreased metabolic rate means everything is slowing down, including fat loss. Unfortunately, out of whack circadian rhythms decrease your rate.
4. Higher levels of insulin: Recall that high levels of insulin are contraindicated for the fastest rates of fat loss. And irregular schedules tend to create higher levels of insulin on average. So even if you are eating healthy, an irregular schedule could block your fat loss.
5. Satiety confusion: The highest amount of fullness with the smallest amount of food consumption leads to the fastest rates of weight loss. The bad news is that a crazy schedule will ruin this balancing act. In fact, research has shown that people with crazy schedules gain much more weight.
6. Reduced deep sleep: Deep sleep is the fountain of youth. After all, the bulk of repair, rejuvenation and recovery happens when you are in the deepest of sleep. The bad news here is that an irregular schedule will drastically reduce your percentage of deep sleep.
Getting your circadian rhythms to entrain properly is one of the best things you can do to increase your chances of success. Even better, it will increase your length and quality of life!
