Why aren’t low calorie diets successful? You are motivated to lose weight and you have decided to cut back on calories. You lose a few pounds but then you gain it back. Maybe you gain back more than you lost. This unfortunately is the tape that can play over and over again.
You set a maximum number of calories per day and you’re watching them closely. It may be 1000 or 1250 calories. The result is your body decides you are starving and to survive it slows the metabolism down. That’s the last thing you want.
Now instead of burning fat which you dearly desire, you’re losing muscle. This anti-starvation tactic is what your body feels is necessary and it goes into survival mode. This is an important reason why low calorie diets fail.
You’re losing weight so that you’ll look better. The weight you lose isn’t the fat and by losing weight this way, you are working against your desires. This temporary loss of weight isn’t what you’re trying to do at all.
You need to be firing your metabolic system up to burn fat. That means two things: making a total effort to only eat high fiber foods that are healthy and filling and regular exercise. These foods have the bonus in that you’re no longer yearning for food all of the time. You can eat a lot of the right things and its ok. You will now be losing weight that’s in the right places and feeling so much better.
Have diets worked for you in the past? By consuming healthy food and doing a daily form of exercise, you ll be proud of the way you look as your body becomes firmer. You will have to avoid your habits from the past but the outcome is worth the effort.
Instead of laying on the couch to watch TV, stand up and move or do some light aerobics. Try to really think how you can start moving more during the day. It really doesn’t take much effort to start burning fat. Are you aware that after a day of eating healthy foods and some type of exercise you actually metabolize fat while sleeping?
Always keep in your mind the end product of your hard work. What you think becomes reality and try to convince your subconscious that you’re already there. The words you say aloud and to yourself need to be positive.
